  • "When looking for a Board opportunity, HabitatWR seemed like the perfect fit and a great opportunity to give back to the community. My first experience with the organization was a corporate team build over 15 years ago and it had a lasting impression on me. I am honoured to have been invited to join the Board and look forward to contributing to the organization’s mission"

Stories From Our Volunteers

  • Deb - Habitat Board Member

    • " I was interested in Habitat WR for its strong reputation, ambitious vision and as a result of my strong desire to play a part in the housing affordability crisis [...] I'm excited to be part of the Habitat WR Board and support this fantastic work"
      Deb - Habitat Board Member

  • Martin - Habitat Volunteer

    • "For me, the ability to make a difference in someone else’s life, particularly a child, is the driving force. A child is born innocent and has to live through whatever childhood they are dealt. So any way I can improve that is my soft spot and keeps me coming back."

    • "The families. Seeing Future Homeowners come on site to build – at first feeling nervous excitement, quickly became part of the fabric of the site – arriving regularly, anticipating the completion of their home, getting to know their community. Single moms who jumped right in – learning as much as they could. Couples building together. And then having volunteers getting to know the stories of the families. It felt like real community."
